Understanding Our Live Chat Service

As you browse our site you will notice buttons asking "Have a Vermont Travel Question? " or "Need Help? Ask Me " placed throughout our pages for your convenience.

Vermont Chat InvitationOur LIVE CHAT service provides live, real-time, text-based, one-on-one interaction. Its technological foundation is instant messaging software which allows individuals to communicate one-on-one with each other while they perform other computer-based tasks.

The Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing utilizes customized software for our Travel Advisors to interact synchronously, one-on-one, with our visitors as they make their travel plans. Advisor chat is designed to add social interaction and immediate responsiveness to the internet travel planning experience.

You'll notice that the buttons say "Chat with a Vermonter." Whether you use this service or call our 1-800-VERMONT line your inquiry will be handled by someone in Vermont.

Vermont has long been known for it's tourist information efforts at our Interstate Information Centers or at the Tourist Information booths on town greens. The addition of this chat service brings that human interaction to the Web.

We invite you to try this new service. At the end of some chats the advisor may ask you to fill out a questionnaire; please take the time to let us know how you feel about this service.
